Future Cityscape 1 by jarling-art Future Cityscape 1 by jarling-art
A relatively quick concept for a futuristic city using Vue (3d application) and Photoshop. Vue is a fabulous software which helps me a lot getting my ideas into a visible picture.

Hello,

I saw your art work and I would like to invite you to submit your work for the art competition "Future Cities, Future Life."

More info bellow:

Future of Human Rights Forum is currently accepting submissions for its international art competition, Future Cities, Future Life. Through this initiative, FHR Forum will work with artists, designers and architects to envision an ideal world based on the fundamental principles of human rights.

Future Cities, Future life is open to both established and aspiring artists who have an interest in human rights, development, and the environment. Here we ask artists to use their work to answer the question:  How would you like to see future cities (including villages, town, and communities) in 100 years? Submissions may reflect real or fictional cities, and are encouraged to incorporate aspects of green living and environmental sustainability.

If you are an artist, designer, or architect and would like to showcase your work to an international audience, then submit your work to FHR Forum before November 15, 2014. Your work will be judged by a panel of experts and selection decisions will be made in November.

Awesome work, though I can recognize the sky preset you used from a mile away, check this out [link] I also used the life & death preset but I modified it heavily,.. Vue is great but it sticks out like a sore thumb so try and make things look unique whenever you can.

It's cool how even though it seems the environment is being devoured by buildings and pollution, there remains a sense of beauty to the picture. The active city gives a thriving feeling to the piece, even though no life is shown. The sky is beautifully painted. I love how the steam/smoke from the factories and buildings melt into the sky to form 'clouds'. Great job ^^

Thats wicked 8-) I hardly ever see a sci-fi city in Vue that didn't rely on the Dystopia buildings. So I'm assuming the whole thing was done in Vue with no outside modelling programs right? if so, then I have no idea how you were able to make such cool buildings using primitives alone and what looks like improved versions of Vues provided building materials

Well, the buildings are not really done in Vue, I used my many years old Max 3d version 3 which I used to do architectural designs for advertising agencies in my early days (yes I know it’s ooooold), but its still good to do some simple 3d modeling ;-). Well I would love to get my hands on a newer Version of 3d Max, but as I do so less 3d stuff its just too expensive for me to buy it. Other than that I’m currently more into Zbrush which is a lot more fun that to do stiff architectural designs ;-).
About the textures you are right, those are just the simple building textures that come with Vue, the space ships are as well the simple Vue gifts.

Thats cool then, I had a feeling an outside program was used for the buildings, I should try something similar in Cinema 4D ( I know, not as good as max but I think buildings like these are still acheivable in it, just need to practice more ) And great job using Vues materials and models to the best of their ability, many who try often get pretty Noob-ish results, but this here came out well  At least now I know that creating a good future-city isn't as out of reach as I thought it was, just need to practice on buildings more :D

Well I don’t think Cinema isn’t as good as Max, I think about to buy Cinema as well as it is just not so expensive like Max, and a new Cinema is definitly 1.000.000 times better than my much too old (around ten or so years now) Max.
By the way the buildings are not as complicated as it seems, just some simple forms thrown wild together in vue, duplicated and so on, not a big thing. What I really like in Vue is that you can achieve really stunning results in no time. Sadly I just don’t have enough time to play as much in Vue and all the other neat 3d apps as I would like to, my main job still is 2d, but slowly I get it work to mix 3d and 2d to come faster to a result. Sadly illustration isn’t always paid too good so you have to see that you don’t spent too long on a piece, and that’s where 3d really can help a lot.
